I don't think we'll be able to upload knowledge any time soon, as we're a long way from properly mapping how the brain handles this.

But visual inputs for VR/AR is much closer, as there is already some functional implants for something similar: having cameras produce neural stimuli has been a thing for a few decades now, and it's now at the stage where some blind people have been able to regain a limited form of vision despite not having functioning eyes. The tech is only going to get better, so at some point it can be used to augment normal vision.

Nah, this is just little Don feeling left out, seeing how successful Israeli strikes are, while Iran has always been Dons bugbear. He just wants to take credit.

Pakistan: No opinion really. I used to know a guy from there - a real hoopy frood.

Qatar: No opinion there either. My only connection to the country have been quite a few layovers in Doha.

People of Venice! The time has come to show the world what you're made of, and more importantly, what you've got inside.

Let the canals bear witness to your courage. Not with arms, but with... offerings. I want to see a million floating turds on that sacred day. Let this wedding be remembered. Not for love, but for sheer intestinal audacity.

Take a stand, take a squat, and defecate for dignity.

Fate la storia. Fate galleggiare la gloria.

Due to DOGE cutbacks there hasn't been an available crypt keeper for a while. Don't worry, the ghoul in question will make an appearance once the next crypt keeper is available for leading him to the senate floor.

Seriously, I think Mitch is laying low. Too much toxic BS going on these days, even by his standards, and he has nothing to gain by getting in the middle of it. I think he just wants to ride out his term unless explicitly needed on the senate floor, since he's not seeking reelection.

Do nothing: Preserve status quo.
Do something: Risk angering the clown car he helped start

I swear to the gods, this would've been the most likely outcome if the borg had assimilated my ISP. It's not even a big one. I am definitely their only customer with my last name.

Checks roof shingles.

Nope, all my slate is where it is supposed to be. For a second there I was worried that I lived next door to some terminally online Lemmy dork. This town only needs one.

I'm curious about how CO2 emissions from road construction in the US compares to that of Europe (adjusted for scale, obviously).

Concrete creates A LOT of CO2, and after driving a lot in both US and EU roads I can say that US roads involve a lot more concrete.

EDIT: Autocomplete and autocorrect is even worse at this than I am..

Yes but actually no. Mujahideen (did I spell that correctly?) were CIA funded as they opposed the Russian invasion.

A lot of former Mujahideen fighters did end up in both Taliban and Al-Quebec (autocorrect tells me that's the right spelling) after the soviet-Afghan war, including Osama himself. While allied, they are separate entities.

They are allies and with common roots, but saying Taliban was trained by CIA is an oversimplification. Some of its members were, yes, but that was long before Taliban was a thing.

Also, the paragon of Aged Like Milk:

Requirements:

  • Domain registration (duh)
  • Privacy.
  • DNS included.
  • Preferably based in the EU, but it's not a hard requirement

And are there any you would support if you had just that little bit of extra disposable income?

I'm considering hosting one, and I'm just curious how much effort I should invest in doing it "properly" for everyone to use as opposed to just dicking around on my own for testing purposes.

Are there any canonical references to how fast these two are, for comparison?

Is there an available screen recorder for Linux that can continuously record everything, but only keep the last, for example, 10 minutes in a buffer, and anything older will be discarded?

Sometimes something interesting happens in whatever I'm doing, but replicating it after starting a recorder is hard. I also don't want to deal with terabytes of video backlog.

Ideally, when something share-worthy has happened, I'd push a button or a magic key combo, and the buffer will be saved to a file.

SOLVED:
ReplaySorcery as suggested by @[email protected] does the job perfectly and just runs unobtrusively in the background after boot.

I'm currently looking for a replacement to castbox. Castbox us OK, but I want to learn what else good is out there. Bonus points for one that has movement-sensitive sleep timer the way Smart AudioBook Player has.

UPDATE: Testing out Antennapod. Looks nice, and seems to do what I want it to do. I need to experiment with the auto-download a bit and see if it behaves the way I want it to. If it does, we have a winner.
