Why is it "dickriding" to point out this has been a standard practice for all competitors for over 20 years?

I don't understand why you immediately go to the extreme and think this is me defending them? If anything, I'm saying it's all bad.

This has been a thing since 2005 or so, why are we still surprised again?

"I have already had to start to get used to the fact that the president will talk about how I look, how I sound, where I'm from, who I am. Ultimately because he wants to distract from what I'm fighting for," Mamdani said. "And I'm fighting for the very working people that he ran a campaign to empower that he has since then betrayed."

I think I like this guy

That's a problem of the US law or lack of consumer protections compared to UK/EU, not because it's Nintendo. All the other companies have this too.

it can suspend all kinds of services on your console, up to and including bricking it completely.

No, just online services.

Xbox and PlayStation have the same terms & conditions. Why is Nintendo being singled out?

Xbox:

You will not attempt to defeat or circumvent any Xbox Console, Kinect Sensor or Authorised Accessory technical limitation, security or anti-piracy system. If You do, Your Xbox Console, Kinect Sensor or Authorised Accessory may stop working permanently at that time or after a later Xbox Software update.

PlayStation:

we reserve the right to take any action we believe necessary to remedy the violation or to protect SIE’s interests, including: (a) the automatic removal or blockage of content associated with those Accounts; (b) implementation of upgrades or devices intended to discontinue unauthorized use; (c) the permanent or temporary disablement of access to any PSN Content, PlayStation Devices, products, services or features; (d) notifying law enforcement or the appropriate authority; and (e) initiating legal action.

I'm not against the message but this is a uniqlo ad/partnership, just saying.

No need to speculate

I keep a spreadsheet of Water in games, and OoT is at the top next to Super Mario 64 and Galaxy.

Haha this is really interesting! What else is on the list? Have you played titles such as Sea of Thieves or Subnautica?

Stop moving the goalposts. Nobody cares about the votes themselves.

This is about observing a fact and recounting it to someone who's misinformed about the situation and even has the audicity to gaslight someone over it

If you see personal insults you should report the comment. Instances and communities have rules. Downvotes aren't insults though

I was sitting at like, -2 when they made that comment so not imaginary. Please try to give the benefit of the doubt before jumping to conclusions

You might remember this post where I asked about how sorting by "Hot" gives you a lot of new posts that were posted in quick succession, making it look like "New".

I was recommend by a few to use "Scaled", so recently I did. Except this felt even worse: I saw new posts that were posted in succession with 0 upvotes, one having 1 upvote.

Isn't this weird? Or am I doing it wrong?

Not sure if this fits here, feel free to remove if not.

I'm sure the algorithm must be working as intended, but I always see a lot of rapid-fire posts under each other when browsing "Hot". Is this normal or am I missing a setting?

Texas Bighorn sheep return to Franklin Mountains

80 Texas Bighorn sheep were reintroduced by helicopter, the first in decades, to their natural habitats in the Franklin Mountains.

The world's oldest known wild bird has laid an egg at the approximate age of 74, US biologists say.

Wisdom, a Laysan albatross, was filmed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) at the Midway Atoll national wildlife refuge in the Pacific Ocean with her latest partner looking after the egg.

Members of the species usually only live for 12-40 years, but Wisdom was tagged in 1956 when she was about five.

I don't mind politics, but I do mind:

  • AI generated images
  • Porn
  • Anime models (all the "moe" stuff)
  • Something that combines above (like thirsty AI-generated anime models)
  • (RSS) bots that post links but there's never any discussion in the threads
  • Non-English content that I can’t read or local content that doesn't apply to me
  • Games I don't play (anymore) or will never play

Is there an easier way to curate content? Browsing "new" is like whack-a-mole.
